| Surface: Bahrain, a group of 33
islands, with an area of 707 square kilometres, is situated in the Arabian Gulf, off the
east coast of Saudi Arabia. The state takes its name from the largest island Bahrain,
which is 586.5 square kilometres. |

| Climate: The climate is hot in
summer and mild in winter. From November to April is very pleasant, with temperatures from
15 to 24 degrees centigrade. Temperatures are coolest between December and March when
northerly winds prevail. From July to September temperatures average 36 degrees centigrade
with high humidity. The annual average rainfall is approximately 77 millimetres. |
| Visas: A valid passport is required of
all visitors to Bahrain. A visa is also required of all, except for those who are
continuing onward via the next connecting flight and have confirmed tickets with
appropriate travel documents, or citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations of
Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. GCC nationals may stay as
long as they wish. British passport holders are also exempt from the visa requirement for
stays of up to 30 days. ..... Restrictions: You will not be allowed entry to Bahrain
if you have Israeli stamps in your passport. Also, if you specify that you are a writer,
journalist, or editor, your visa must be sponsored by the Ministry of Information, or you
will probably be denied entrance. Be aware that the government does not tolerate the
practice of working in the country on a tourist visa. |
