Climate:  Seasons - The climate in Azerbaijan fluctuates between extremes in the mountainous regions of the country, while maintaining an even keel along the coast. Temperatures during mid-April to October tend to hover in the 70°s and 80°s F (20°s and 30°s C). During the winter months of December through March it gets quite cold.......Regions - Azerbaijan's western border with Armenia is punctuated by the Lesser Caucasus. This section of the country is known for its mountains and for the extremely cold weather that descends upon them during the winter months. The highest of Azerbaijan's peaks is the summit of Mount Bazardyuzyu, at a height of 4,465 meters. The Sheki Zakataly region lies just south of the mountains where the temperature increases along with the humidity during the summer months, probably due to the many rivers that flow through it. The Aras River flows along the southern border of Azerbaijan and flows into the Kura River, which runs from the north of the country to the south, eventually emptying into the Caspian Sea. The coast is significantly warmer then the northern mountainous portion of Azerbaijan.
