Surface : Geographically the Isle of Man is part of the British Islands, situated midway between England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. This small country has a land mass of some 227 square miles (572 sq. kms) and measures at its extremities 33 miles (52 kms) by 13 miles (22 kms).

Climate: The climate is equable, lacking in extremes and enjoying the warming influence of the Gulf Stream, which flows around the shoreline. Prevailing winds blow from the South West, giving varying degrees of shelter and exposure due to the rugged nature of the topography. Once clear of the winter months the weather quickly becomes finer and from April through to October pleasant settled weather conditions are the norm. In the summer, the months of May and June are usually the driest whilst May, June and July are the sunniest. July and August are the warmest.

Visas:  Entrance requirements: British Citizens and Citizens of the Irish Republic do not require passports or entry visas for travel between their respective countries and the Isle of Man. Other EU citizens require only their I.D. cards for travel to the Island. Citizens from non-EU countries will need a passport and should check before travelling to the Island if a visa is required.

System : The Isle of Man is not part of the United Kingdom. It is a crown dependency which has its own laws, courts, and government. The Government on the Isle of Man is a parliament called Tynwald. The Lieutenant Governor is the British Crown representative on the Isle of Man. The Governor is technically the executive head of the government, but in recent years this role has taken the form of vice-regal since most of his duties are now done by Tynwald Government Departments or the Council of Ministers
