Surface : covers 70,282 sq. km (27,136 sq.mi.) and consists of Munster, Leinster, Connacht and three counties of Ulster, making a total of 26 counties governed by The Republic. The Republic of Ireland lies in the north Atlantic Ocean and is separated from Britain by the Irish Sea to the east. The northeastern part of the island (Northern Ireland) is part of the United Kingdom

Climate: Influenced by the Gulf Stream and with the prevailing winds predominantly from the south-west, the climate is equable and temperatures are fairly uniform over the whole country. The coldest months are January and February with mean daily air temperatures of between 4C and 7C. July and August are normally the warmest (14C to 16C) of the year
Electricity: 220 / 240 volts (50 cycles) is the standard electrical current and a 3 square pinned adapter may be required.
Visas: Passports are not required by British citizens born in the United Kingdom and travelling from Britain although identification may be needed. Citizens of European Union states and Switzerland may use a passport or national identity card. Nationals of the following countries require transit visas: Afghanistan, Albania, Bulgaria, Cuba, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Zaire, Lebanon, Moldova, Montenegro, Nigeria, Romania, Serbia, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Zaire.
