Surface :   289.5 Sq. miles (790sq.km)  - it  is an island of volcanic origins located between the French islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique in the Eastern Caribbean

Climate: Dominica's tropical climate guarantees pleasant temperatures throughout the year. Temperatures vary between 18° C and 35° C (64° F and 95° F). Short rain showers regularly occur especially during the summer period. July to October is the rainy season.

PASSPORTS: Passport valid for at least 6 months required by all except: nationals of Canada and the USA holding proof of citizenship bearing a photograph and return or onward tickets; nationals of France holding National Identity Cards (‘Carte d’Identité’) for a stay of up to 2 weeks. VISAS: Required by all except the following: nationals of Commonwealth countries for stays of up to 6 months; nationals of Argentina, Costa Rica, Israel, Korea (Rep), Malta, Mexico, Norway, Surinam, Taiwan (China) and Venezuela for stays of up to 6 months; nationals of all other countries for tourist stays of up to 21 days, provided they have a return ticket and satisfy the immigration officer that they do not wish to stay for longer.

System : Parliamentary Republic - Gained independence from the UK in 1978. The President is head of state and, in conjunction with a Cabinet, has executive power. The legislature is the unicameral House of Assembly, to which nine members are nominated and 21 elected by universal adult suffrage. Executive power is vested in the Prime Minister, who is the leader of the majority in the House.
Languages :  English. A french based Creole is widely spoken by residents
Religions : There is a good representation of many of the major religious denominations in most towns and villages including Roman Catholic, Seven Day Adventist, Anglican, Methodist, People’s Pentecostal, Berean Bible, Deliverance Baptiste, Qahal Yahweh and Jehovah’s Witnesses.
