| Climate: The climate is tropical with distinct seasons - warm
and dry from November to March, hot and dry from March to May, and warm and wet during the
rainy season from June to October. Harmattan conditions (a hot, dust-laden wind during the
dry season) obscure visibility. During cool weather (December to February), daily maximum
temperatures average 85°F (29°C) with almost no humidity. Temperatures drop sharply
after sundown to 60°F (16°C). The extreme heat of March, April and May is unpleasant,
with daytime temperatures reaching well above 100°F (38°C). |
